Obituary for Terry W. Troup

T. William Troup, 68, of Chardon, died Sept. 19, 2013, at Heather Hill Care Center. Born Sept. 9, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minn., to William E. and Ruth (nee Merriman) Troup Jr., he had lived in Cuyahoga Falls before moving to Chardon in 1972. Mr. Troup was a graduate of Carrollton (Texas) High School''s Class of 1963, earned a bachelor of science degree from Defiance College''s Class of 1968 and a master''s degree with honors in history from the University of Toledo''s Class of 1970. Bill started teaching in 1968, before moving to Chardon Local Schools where he taught from 1972 until his retirement. He earned the Chardon High School Teacher of the Year award in 2001 and the Superintendent''s Award. Bill served as an elder and was an active member at Christ Presbyterian Church in Chester Township since 1978. Bill is survived by his cousins, the Rev. Debra (Richard) Hayden of Newark, Cheryl (James) Creighton of North Jackson and Daniel (Jean Marie) Lamb of Austintown; close friends, Ron (Bridget) Cole and Esther Neumann; and many co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at the funeral Home, with funeral services to immediately follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Reeves of Christ Presbyterian Church officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township for burial.
