Obituary for Betty Jo Sherbondy

Betty Jo (Barstow) Sherbondy, 71, of Chester Township, passed away Aug. 3, 2013, in Hospice House of Cleveland.She was born July 8, 1942. Mrs. Sherbondy graduated from West Geauga High School in 1961. Betty Jo was a rainbow girl in Chardon and member of the Eastern Star, former Ruby Chapter No. 4 in Chardon until it closed and now a member of the Clover Chapter No. 201 in Burton. Mrs. Sherbondy enjoyed reading Beverly Lewis novels, doing jigsaw puzzles and most of all being with her granddaughter, family and close friends. Betty Jo worked at the former API & LFE from 1961 to 1967 and then became a domestic engineer. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, George; son, Clint (fiancée Drazana); daughter, Carrie (Jack Jr.) Copeland; granddaughter, Jamie Copeland; brothers, John and Thomas (Judy) Barstow; sister, Judy (Gilbert) Gribble; brother-in-law, Bill Schulz; sister-in-law, Jan Barstow; 22 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and -nephews; and six great-great-nieces and -nephews.Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen Barstow; sisters, Barbara Barstow and Cathy Schulz; brothers, Fred Barstow and Richard (Carol) Barstow.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the funeral home. Final resting place will be in the Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Hospice of The Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110-2602.
