Obituary for Lawrence Bovo
LAWRENCE ''LARRY'' J. BOVO
YOUNGSTOWN – Lawrence “Larry” J. Bovo, 80, passed away Friday morning, July 12, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center after a brief illness.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1932, to the late Bruno and Librada (San Juan) Bovo in Lowellville.
Larry was a graduate of Poland Seminary High School in Poland. He was an Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict in the 185th Combat Engineers with the 8th Army. Larry held the rank of Corporal and was a demolition man and an Asst. Platoon Leader, spending 16 months near the 38th parallel.
After his service, he worked five years at Sharon Steel Corp. in Lowellville, as a Millwright Helper. He worked 25 years at Servi-Clean Industries as a Supervisor. He also worked 13 years at Tamco Phar-Mor Warehouse in Austintown, where he retired in 2001 as a Palletizer. He was also a member of the 377 Teamsters.
Larry will always be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, sun bathing, yard work, wood working, and attending car shows.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Shirley (Heeter) Bovo. He also leaves behind his children, Lawrence J. (Tammy Rivera) Bovo of Youngstown, Steven (Samantha Crum) Bovo of Youngstown and Christine M. Bovo of Youngstown; grandchildren, Andrea, Justin, Ashley, and Brittany Bovo and Dakota C. Kuhley. Also surviving are his brothers, Vince (Pat) Bovo of Struthers and Bruno Bovo Jr. of Struthers; his sister, Theresa (Ivan) Panezich of Edinburg; along with 22 nieces and nephews; and 33 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony Bovo and Joe Bovo, and his father-in-law, Robert Heeter.
The family will receive friends at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel on Tuesday, July 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the service to follow at 1 p.m.
Interment will be at Green Haven Cemetery.
