Obituary for Richard Joseph Sr. Fraher

Lifelong Ansonia resident, Richard Joseph Fraher Sr., departed this life July 2nd, 2013. He was the devoted husband of the late Jeanne Aldred Fraher for 39 years. Born May 18, 1926, son of the late Lester and Mary Dardis Fraher. Predeceased by his brother, Dr. Thomas Fraher. Richard was the beloved father of Richard J. Fraher Jr., of Ansonia, Frederick A. Fraher (Laurie Levasseur) of Orange, Alice (Paul) Labrum of Seymour, William and Eliza Whalen of Ansonia; loving grandfather of Michael Thomas Fraher and fiancée Katie Krause, Patrick William and Jeanne Fraher Whalen. Richard leaves his dear longtime companion, Linda Buffa of Oxford. Richard served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged, was a lifelong member of Highland Golf Club of Shelton, was a member of Assumption Church and Ansonia Senior Center. Richard graduated from Assumption School and Ansonia High School. He was employed as a linotype operator for the Evening Sentinel of Ansonia. He finished his career at Sikorsky Aircraft . Richard loved to play golf, cards, and spending time in Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Kathleen Samela Memorial Food Bank at Christ Church, 56 S. Cliff St. Ansonia, CT 06401. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, July 6th at 9:00 a.m. from The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church in Ansonia. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
