Obituary for Marjorie J Hammill

MARJORIE JOANN HAMMILL GREEN ACRES, FLA.– There will be services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, for Marjorie Joann Hammill, 87, formerly of Canfield, who died Sunday morning at Hospice of Palm Beach County, JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla. She was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Akron, a daughter of Mark and Orra Smyers Gardner. Marjorie was a graduate of North Olmstead High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Canfield United Methodist Church and a former member of Rebecca Lodge. Marjorie was an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed cooking, but her greatest joy was being a housewife and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Her husband of 42 years, Glenn Hammill, whom she married March 29, 1947, died Sept. 29, 1989. Marjorie is survived by her sister, Arveta Gross of Boynton Beach, Fla.; her grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Rock of Columbiana, Becky (Jeff) Eaton of Canfield, Heather (Frank) Iaconis of Austintown, James (Paula) Miller of Royal Palm, Fla. and Matthew (Brittany) Miller currently stationed in Osan, Kyonggi-Do, Korea with the U.S. Air Force; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her daughters, Judith Rock and Jayne Miller; her brothers, Donald and William Gardner; and her sister, Jeannie Gardner. Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5301 S. Congress Ave., Atlantis, FL 33462.
