Obituary for Harriet Mabery Parks

God in His infinite wisdom and divine love has called our loved one from labor to reward. Harriet C. Parks entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 29th at CT Hospice of Branford. She was born Feb. 27, 1932 in Hartford, CT to the late Whit William and Bernice Franklin Mabery and Carl & Gussie Scott. She was the wife of 62 years to Clarence Parks. She was a 1950 graduate of Ansonia High School. She was a lifelong resident of Ansonia where she was a faithful member of The Greater Evangel Temple, C.O.G.I.C. in Ansonia. Harriet was very active in the community. She served as a Brownie-Girl Scout leader, she had a catering business with her sister known as Doug-Par Caterers, and worked as a Registrar of Voters in the 3rd Ward for many years. Mother Parks as she was affectionately known loved her church and her church family. She served faithfully on the mother’s Board, Hospitality, Pastor’s Aid and the Finance Department. Harriet leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Clarence, 2 daughters, Elder Darlene Parks-Thompson (Ernest) and Doreen Parks of Ansonia, CT, son Daryl Parks of Ansonia, five sisters, Bernice Allick Gilmore of New Haven, Bertha Jett of Darlington, S.C. Carolyn Green of Hartford, Evangelist Minecia Scott of Hamden & Sandra Delvaille of Middletown, daughter-in-law Elba Colon of Seymour, 3 very dear friends Mary Ann German, Gale Byrd & Diane Stroman, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many loved ones. She was predeceased by 4 brothers & 6 sisters. ‘Mother Parks’ had a very special love for the Mother’s Board of Greater Evangel Temple Church. Friends may call on Friday evening, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. AT CHURCH. (www.jenkinskingfh.com) Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6th at 9:00 a.m. at her church, The Greater Evangel Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
