Obituary for William Biliski

BILISKI WILLIAM "BILL" BILISKI, 81, beloved husband of the late Betty, most loving father of Michele (Hon. David) Schroeder, amazing grandfather of Christopher and Corinne, died June 13, 2013, from complications following bypass surgery. The son of Polish immigrants born in Conemaugh, PA, a drummer in a polka band and a recipient of the D.A.R medal from his high school, Bill worked in the steel industry following graduation, before enlisting in the United States Army. Bill attained the rank of Sergeant and proudly served in the Army Security Agency Communication 328th Reconnaissance Company in Bad Aibling, Germany as a Morse Code Interceptor during the Cold War years. Bill came to Cleveland following his Honorable Discharge from the Army, married the love of his life on August 7, 1954, and found employment at the Ford Motor Company as an assembly line operator at Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1. He was the last of the "bootstrappers", rising through the foundry ranks as millright, foreman, design engineer, general foreman and senior environmental control engineer before becoming the company''s first Supervisor of the Environmental Control Department. Bill retired from Ford as the General Superintendent of the Melting Area in 1991, after 37 years of service. Bill was proud to be a "Cold War Veteran" attending his military reunions and staying connected to his ASA 328 Comm Recon family. He enjoyed playing poker with his St. Nicholas "cronies", watching sunsets, star gazing and spending time with his family. Mr. Biliski will lie in state at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, for visiting on Wednesday, June 19, from 4 to 8 P.M. There will be services at the church on Wednesday, at 7 P.M. and again on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 10 A.M. V. Rev. Andrew Clements officiating. Interment Western Reserve Cemetery.
