Obituary for Mrs. Elza G. Perigyi

Elza Grace Perigyi, age 97, formerly of Fairfield, passed away at her daughter's home in Trumbull on November 27, 2021. She was the devoted and loving wife of the late Alex J. Perigyi for 68 years. 

Elza was born in Fairfield to the late Alex and Susan Tarnoczi Gondola. Elza and Alex enjoyed many years in their RV all over the United States, Alaska, and the Yukon. She also enjoyed gardening and growing African Violets, bowling, baking Hungarian pastries for holidays, working for her church at festivals and the Noodle Group. She served on the church consistory, Advisory Board for the Order of Rainbow Girls and was a member of Eastern Star.

Elza is survived by her devoted and loving children Kathy Fensky and her husband Albert of Trumbull, Carl Perigyi and his wife Jo-Ann of Monroe, Janet Shields of Derby. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Timothy Fensky and his wife Paula of MA, Kevin Fensky and his wife Christine of Trumbull, Adam Shields and his wife Shannon of Milford, David Shields and his wife Heather of PA, Brittany, Briana Perigyi of Monroe, and one great grandchild, Morgan Fensky; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by one grandson, William Shields, and her siblings, Joseph and Alex Gondola, Eleanore Bodner and Ethel Hunyor.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 1030 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Eric Gramse officiating. Her burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
