Obituary for BARBARA A. KURTYKA

Barbara Ann Kurtyka, 85, passed away, Saturday, March 3rd, 2023, at Rittenhouse Village At Muhlenberg.

She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore W. Kurtyka.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Nazzareno and Catherine (Yetto) Forlini.

Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Muhlenburg High School.

She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church.

Barbara was employed for many years as an administrative assistant at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

She was a dancer at St. Marco Society.

Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother. She was very family oriented, good natured, and loved to cook for her family. Barbara also loved travelling.

She is survived by three children: John T., husband of Christine Kurtyka, Reading; Elise A., wife of Vince Valeriano, Kannapolis, NC ; and Lynda A., wife of Steven Drasher, Reading. Four grandchildren: Vanessa, Kristi, Christopher, and Matthew; and five great grandchildren; and three siblings: Bernie; John; and Henry Forlini also survive her.

Barbara was predeceased by her daughter, Leanne Kurtyka, a brother, Anthony Forlini, and two grandchildren, Andrew and Leah Kurtyka. 

A prayer service will be held Wednesday, March 8th, 2023 at 11 A.M., at Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Resurrection. A viewing will be held one and a half hours prior to the prayer service from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Stitzel Family Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Barbara's honor to Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
