Thomas W. Pietila (1931-2013)
Graveside Services for Thomas W. Pietila, 81, will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
A resident of Gahanna, Mr. Pietila passed away April 15, 2013, at his residence.
The son of William and Lillian (Kulma) Pietila was born April 16, 1931, in Painesville. He retired from the Carborundum Corp in Columbus.
Tom graduated from Thomas W. Harvey High School with the class of 1949. He was an active member of Whitehall United Methodist Church in Columbus, where he participated in several charitable church events.
Survivors are his sons, Mike (Cathy) Pietila of Mentor, Randy Pietila of Columbus, Jeffrey Pietila of Lancaster and Tom (Lindy) Pietila of Florence, S.C.; grandchildren, Bryce Pietila, Rebecca Jean Taylor and Caroline Marie Pietila; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher and Caden; and sister, Joann Gilbert of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Miles) Pietila in 2002; and his parents.
No calling hours will be observed.
