Obituary for Joseph W O'Neil

Joseph William O’Neill, 85 AUSTINTOWN – Private services were held on Friday at Greenhaven Memorial Cemetery for Joseph William O’Neill, 85, who passed away Thursday at Hospice House with his family by his side. Joseph was born April 18, 1927, in Oil City Pa., a son of James and Maria O’Neill, and he moved to the area in 1961. Joseph graduated from Girard High School. He was a veteran of World War II in the Coast Guard. When he was younger, he worked for the Shriver Allison Funeral Home and the Blackstone Funeral Home of Girard. He was a volunteer fireman for Girard, a championship typist and well known around the community for his self taught calligraphy writing. He also belonged to the FOP. Joseph worked for US Steel. He retired from Delphi Packard Electric and was a machinist. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Helen Sauricki O’Neill of over 66 years of marriage; his daughter, Lori (Joe) Latone of Austintown; son Randy (Carol) O’Neill of Mineral Ridge; his grandchildren, Allison and Alex Latone of Austintown; and his brother, Harold (Marlene) of McDonald. Besides his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and James; his sister, Marie O’Neill; his beloved dog, Tiffany, an Afghan Hound
