Ruth N. (Mauer) Koontz (1918-2013)
Ruth N. (Maurer) Koontz, 94, of Mentor, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Lake Health West Medical Center.
Mrs. Koontz was born Oct 1, 1918, in Curryville, Pa., moved to Cleveland in 1941, and then to Mentor in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, James L. Koontz, in 1992.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of her lifelong interests was music. She sang with The Sweet Adelines and played the organ.
Survivors include her older brother, John B. Maurer of Martinsburg, Pa.; son, Craig; daughter-in-law Sandy; grandchildren, Nancy and Brian; and great-grandchildren, Paige, Emma, Benjamin, Sarah and Evan.
Funeral services and internment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth''s memory to the American Cancer Society , 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, OH 44106.
Ruth''s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Haven Home of Mentor for their kindness, concern and compassionate care during Ruth''s stay with them.
Ruth valiantly fought numerous life challenges and the progression of aging until her burden was finally lifted. May Mom and Dad rest in the ultimate peace that they both so justly earned.
