Obituary for Frederick Costello

FREDERICK J. COSTELLO RAVENNA – Frederick J. Costello, 71, formerly of Lowellville, died Feb. 24, 2013, at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Mr. Costello was born June 12, 1941, in Lowellville, a son of Fred and Anna (Tomasino) Costello. He was a 1959 graduate of Struthers High School and was a basketball and fast pitch player for many years and was an avid golfer. Fred worked for Equifax for 25 years and then started his own company doing criminal background checks, before retiring in 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Fred looked forward to his yearly trip to New York to watch the Yankee’s play. He leaves to cherish his memories, his long time companion, Pam Christy of Ravenna; two brothers, Guy (Patricia) Costello of Poland and Chuck Costello of Struthers; three sisters, Valerie (Bob) Witherow of Columbus, Gloriann (Harry) Sechrist of Virginia Beach and Maryann (Bruce) Lucas of St. Louis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. A prayer service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church. Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 6431 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, OH 44515.
