Obituary for Donald K. Murphy

Donald Kenneth Murphy (1936-2013) Donald Kenneth Murphy, 76, of Painesville Township, formerly of East Claridon and Mentor-on-the-Lake, died Feb. 24, 2013, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born April 25, 1936, in Cleveland. Mr. Murphy had worked as a heavy equipment operator/engineer for Local 18. He was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy in Georgia, a certified master diver, enjoyed skiing and was a member of the Cleveland Ski Club. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his beloved companion of 20 years, Carol Sziklai; son, Donald K. Murphy Jr.; daughters, Cindy Murphy, Kimberly (Kurt) and Susan (Anthony) Percic; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Monica, Nichole, Brian, Cory, Nathan, Tyler, Travis and Bret; great-grandchild, Daven; brother, James Murphy; and sister-in-law, Jackie Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Murphy; brother, Lawrence Murphy; and former wife, Patricia L. Murphy. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
