Obituary for Samuel Washenko

Samuel Washenko, age 93 years young of Seymour entered into peaceful rest on February 13, 2013 at his home with his devoted family by his side. Mr. Washenko was born on January 15, 1920 in Ansonia, son of the late Elias and Mary (Kwochka) Washenko. Samuel was a retired foundry worker at Anaconda American Brass in Ansonia He was a proud World War II veteran having served with the 80th Blue Mountain Division under General Patton serving in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of the David S. Miles Post 174, American Legion, Oxford, National Association of Naval Veterans, Port 5 and was a member for 70+ years of the Norwood A.C. Mr. Washenko was a communicant of Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia. Samuel leaves his loving family with whom he resided, niece Elizabeth Krauchick and her husband Edmond Boni, III, niece Karen Rose and their beloved pet, Ceasar Romeo. He also leaves behind his beloved nephews, Nick Washenko (Eva) of Shelton, Paul Washenko (Ann Shirley) of Orange and Peter Washenko, Sr. of Shelton as well as several great nephews and nieces. Services were private. Interment with full military honors were held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. The Ralph E.
