Obituary for John E Gramet

JOHN ''GRUB'' GRAMET NEW MIDDLETOWN – John “Grub” Gramet, 91, passed away on Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center. John was born on June 10, 1921, in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Marie (Schuller) Gramet and was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of The Rayen School, he went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Youngstown State University. He was employed by US Steel as an engineer. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. He belonged to the American Legion Post 290 of Columbiana and was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church. In his spare time, John loved to golf and spend time with his family. John leaves to cherish his precious memory, his daughter, Linda Carlson of Poland; three grandchildren, Krista (Ricky) Davanzo of North Lima, Taryn Carlson of Lebanon and Erik Carlson of Poland; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Hunter, both of North Lima. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Howe) Gramet, whom he married on Jan. 30, 1946, and who died on Aug. 5, 1996; a son-in-law, Douglas Carlson; and two brothers, George and Marty. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
