Obituary for Bernard Kachmer

BERNARD P. KACHMER STRUTHERS – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc. and at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish, Holy Trinity Church for Bernard P. Kachmer, 81, who died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Hampton Woods Nursing Center. Bernard was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Struthers, the son of the late Andrew and Mary Yuhas Kachmer. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, where he was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague and the Altar Rosary Society. He worked for U.S. Steel as a vice foreman until closing, he served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion and was an antique car enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Mary Patricia Rudy Kachmer, whom he married May 15, 1954; his children, Jeanette (Richard) Johnson of Columbiana, Bernard (Katherine) Kachmer of Boardman, and Patricia Jean Kachmer of Struthers; his sister, Geraldine (Edward) Vodhanel of Campbell; a step grandson, Alan (Tamara) Johnson; and two step great-grandchildren, Clara Stewart and Elias Stewart. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 1 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kirila Funeral Home Inc. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
