Obituary for Anita M Cosentino

ANITA M. COSENTINO COLUMBIANA – Anita M. Cosentino, 87, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 22, 2013, at the ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown. Mrs. Cosentino was born in Youngstown, on Sept. 11, 1925, a daughter of Joseph and Edith DeSimone Marinelli. She graduated with honors from Woodrow Wilson High School. She was a graduate of Youngstown State University School of Business. She was a member of the TAU Kappa Nu Business Sorority. She was employed by The Ward Baking Company as a private secretary and bookkeeper. She married Dr. Louis A. Cosentino on Sept. 2, 1950. They have three children, Linda M. (Randolph) Davis of Columbiana, Laura Ann (James) Kattenbraker of Wildwood, Mo. and Dr. Louis Mark (Melinda) Cosentino of Poolesville, Md.; six grandchildren, Stephen and Timothy (Michelle) Smith, Angela (Joseph) Ridder and Michael (Lindsay) McLaughlin, and Olivia and Alexis Cosentino; and three great-grandsons, Kaden and Benjamin Smith and Benjamin Ridder. She is also survived by three sisters, Miss Laura R. Marinelli of Toledo, Mrs. Julie (Joseph) Dappal of Northboro, Mass. and Mrs. Virginia Kaczmarek of Toledo. She was a founding member of The Epsilon Sigma Alpha National Sorority and served as president. In 1960, under the leadership of her and her husband, St. Patrick Mission, the forerunner of St. Jude Church, was started in Columbiana, with the first Mass said on Nov. 6, 1960. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She was the first choir director and organist in the church from 1960 to 1974. She also started the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program at St. Jude Church. She was Past President of the National Council of Catholic Women, Columbiana Deanery and Past President of St. Jude Women’s Guild. She served on St. Jude Parish Council for many years and also served on its finance committee. She was on the board of Potters Medical Center of East Liverpool, and served as its President for a number of years. She was a member of the Eastern Academy, the Ohio State, and National Auxiliary of The American Podiatry Medical Association, and the Auxiliary of the Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at St. Jude Catholic Church with the Reverend Thomas Ziegler officiating. Entombment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund.
