Obituary for Adelina Pacella

ADELINA PACELLA STRUTHERS – There will be funeral services at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers with the Rev. Bob Bonnot celebrating the Mass for Adelina Pacella, 97, loving mother and nonna, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Jan. 20, 2013. She was born Feb. 10, 1915, in Pacentro, Provincia of L’Aquila, Italy, a daughter of Francesco and Rosaria Colangelo Ciccone. Her husband, Antonio Pacella, whom she married March 15, 1934, died Jan. 10, 1988. Adelina came to America in 1958. She was a homemaker, a member of the Pacentrani Club and was named Italian Woman of the Year at the 2006 Youngstown Italian Festival. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Struthers. She was survived by three sons, Patsy (Anna Marie) of Canfield, Mario (Frances) and Albert (Pina) of Struthers; two daughters, Emma Niro (Gus) of Poland and Velia Sellers of Sun City, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grand child. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Domenico Colangelo; and sisters, Luisa Rossi and Angiolina Colangelo. Adelina will be remembered during calling hours on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. The family would like to thank the staff of Greenbriar for the amazing care and consideration they showed our mother in her final years.
