Obituary for Frank Smith

FRANK SMITH AUSTINTOWN – Frank Smith, 87, passed away peacefully, Nov. 14, 2012, at Clare Bridge of Austintown with his loving family at his side. He was born Oct. 23, 1925, in the village of Scienceville, Youngstown, the son of Charles and Bessie Smith. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country during World War II. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. He retired on Aug. 15, 1988, from Booker Construction as a repairman after 19 years of service. Prior to Booker Construction, Frank worked at Terrace Auto body as an auto body man for 16 years. He will be dearly missed by his three daughters, Claudia (Jerry) Allen of Austintown, Marie (James) Connell of Austintown, and Nancy (Kim) MacFarland of North Lima; a sister, Thelma Gray of California; eight grandchildren, John Breneman, Ron Dressel Jr., Amanda Hecker, James Connell, Timothy Connell, Julie Connell, Matthew MacFarland and Molly MacFarland; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Kiara Hecker. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Marie, whom he married Dec. 2, 1944; a daughter, Carolyn Breneman; four brothers, Bud, John Clyde, Lawrence, and Charles Smith; and four sisters, Ida Higgins, Lula Belle Morrow, Laura Lampe and Dorothy Herber. Visitation will be held today at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austintown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were handled by the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown, OH 44515, and the Alzheimer’s Association. A special thank you to the staff at Clare Bridge of Austintown for the loving care they provided Frank.
