Bessie (Rizos) Brown
85 passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at St. Lukes Lutheran Home, North Canton, following an extended illness. She was born on Jan.5, 1927 in Burgesstown, Pa. to the late Nicholas and Panagula ( Christides) Rizos. She was a graduate of Massillon Washington High school, Class of 1945. After high school she worked as a legal secretary for the Law Firm of Underhill & Schimke. Later she worked as a book keeper with her husband at Reams Construction Company. Bessie was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Massillon. She was very active in the church, serving many years as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the Lady Elks of North Canton. She was an avid bowler, golfer and enjoyed spending time with the center of her life, her family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Brown, whom she married on June 6, 1954, a daughter, Susan (Ray) Chiappini of Canton, three sons, Greg (Pam) Brown of Canton, Ga., Carter (Marilyn) Brown of Matthews, N.C., Bill (George-Ann) Brown of Cincinnati, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren , and a sister, Irene Brown of Naples, Fla. She is preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Raymond Brown, three brothers, Gust Rizos, Lewis Rizos and George Rizos and a grandson, Dustin Brown.
Friends may gather at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Wednesday Oct. 24, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Oct.25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Massillon, Fr. Yanni Verginis and Fr. C.G. Shieppis, Officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Massillon or the Alzheimer''s Association
