Obituary for Thelma Crowther Ciepiela

Thelma “Gerrie” Ciepiela, age 90, of West Haven, entered into rest on Monday October 15, 2012 at the Paradigm Healthcare in West Haven. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Paul Ciepiela. She was born in Waterbury on April 8, 1922 daughter of the late Ralph and Sadie (Crosher) Crowther and was a resident of West Haven for most of her life. Thelma was employed at the former Harlac Corporation for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed baking, singing, dancing, country music, her pet birds, trips to the casino and tending to her garden especially her roses. Her favorite meal was seafood especially shrimp. Her greatest joy was cooking for her family gathering. She is survived by her two daughters, MaryAnn Babjak and her husband Joseph and Geraldine Wrigley and her husband Robert, two granddaughters, DeeAnn Re and her husband Dave and Karen Cornet and her husband Dave, 4 great grandchildren Kyle and Katelyn Re and Dylan and Ava Cornet, her god-daughter and niece Geri Given and her husband Gary and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Jo-Ann Babjak, three brothers, Raymond, Earl and Robert Crowther and three sisters, Ruth Beam, Marilyn Crowther and Helen Denno. Friends may call on Thursday Morning from 9:30 am to 11 am at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. Her funeral service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 26 Lester St., Ansonia, CT 06401 or to a charity of one’s choice.
