Obituary for Eleanor Moon

ELEANOR 'ELLIE' MOON CANFIELD – There will be services at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Canfield United Methodist Church for Eleanor ”Ellie” Moon, 78, who died Sunday morning at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Moon was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Alliance, a daughter of John M. and Eleanor Goff Schindell. She was a 1952 graduate of North High School. Eleanor worked for the Schwebel Baking Co. for 25 years in their Thrift Store, becoming the manager. She retired in 1997. Ellie was an active member of the church. She belonged to both the Ladies Bible Study and the United Methodist Women. She often helped with the office work in the church’s office and was a faithful worker at the annual craft show. Ellie was an avid reader and she loved working puzzles. She enjoyed traveling with her husband. They visited 47 states and numerous foreign countries. Her greatest joy though was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ellie leaves her husband of 59 years, James E. Moon Sr., whom she married April 22, 1953; her children, James E. Jr. of Youngstown, John S. of Denver, E. Susan Gentile of Struthers, Timothy J. of Youngstown and Marjorie I. Hrabe of Tucson, Ariz.; her brothers and sisters, John M. Schindell of Cherry Hill, N.J., Lynn Koebel of Boardman, Rene DeSantis of Jacksonville, Fla., and William Edward Schindell of Youngstown; her grandchildren, Melissa Moon, Cheri Secre, Shannon Gleydura, David Moon, and Kele Moon; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler Chaney-Gleydura, Alexis Gleydura, Charles Smith and Trice Castleberry. Her brothers and sister, Henry and Ray Schindell and Jean Lee Kohn are deceased. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel
