Obituary for Clarence J Powell

CLARENCE J. 'BUCK' POWELL BOARDMAN – Clarence J. “Buck” Powell, 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Hampton Woods Care Center. Clarence was born on Oct. 6, 1923, in The Plains of Ohio. He was the son of Clarence E. and Mary Jane Swauger. Clarence served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, fighting in the South Pacific. He also was a past member of the Masonic Temple in East Liverpool. Clarence was employed by Ohio Bell as a Lineman and manager, retiring in 1976. He loved golfing, sports and Big Band music, but his favorite past time was time spent with the apples of his eyes, his family and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Betty (Johnston), whom he married on Dec. 20, 1945; his daughter, Susan L. Olmstead, of Streetsboro; and grandchildren, Julie Ann Mettes, Beth Lynn Lewis, and Jennifer Leskovac. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grand daughter, Samantha Leskovac. Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service. Private burial will follow service time. Arrangements are by the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
