Obituary for Michael David Guidry

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton for Michael David Guidry, 57, who died on Monday, September 3, 2012 at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his family. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Aaron Melancon, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deacon Cody Miller will concelebrate and give the Eulogy. Giftbearers will be Candace, Alexis, and Dylan Naquin. Lector will be Jane Smith. Lerone Rubin, organist, will provide musical selections for the Mass. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Priscilla Shauberger Guidry of Lafayette; two sons, Brian Joseph Guidry, Matthew Michael Guidry; step-son, Dustin Paul Naquin; daughter-in-law, Candace Ann Naquin; his father, Leslie David Guidry and his wife, Nancy and his mother, Rita Favre Guidry; three sisters, Leslie Ann White, Tina Marie KerDavid and Jane Elizabeth Smith; two brothers, Steven Henry Guidry and Robert Louis Guidry; one step-brother, Stephen Hutchins; one step-sister, Jean Ellen Richert; two step-grandchildren, Alexis McKenzie Naquin and Dylan Paul Naquin; and his best canine companion, "Buddy". He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Etienne and Valentine Marshall Guidry and Henry and Ruth Favre. Michael David Guidry was born on November 25, 1954 in Rochester, Minnesota and has been a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for over 42 years. Michael attended the Manhattan School of Music, where he received his master's degree in Performing Arts. He also attended ULL, where he received a BS in Nursing. Michael was a dedicated employee of the Azar Eye Clinic, where he worked with Dr. Paul "Buddy" Azar for many years. He also was a pianist at Charley G's Restaurant. Michael enjoyed golfing, riding his bike, carpentry and music, but his passion in life was his family, whom he cherished dearly. He was a faithful member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church Community in Lafayette. Michael was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend to all and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be Brian Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Robert Guidry, Steven Guidry, Stephen Hutchins, Billy Smith, Dustin Naquin and Brandon Smith. A Rosary will be recited by Brady LeBlanc on Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE Location. The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Priscilla, his wife, would like to give special thanks to Jane Smith and Michael Shauberger for their kindness, compassion and undying support given to Michael and her during their time of need.
