Obituary for Donald F. Burrows

Donald F. Burrows (1921-2012) Funeral services for Donald F. Burrows, 91, of Euclid, a retired machinist, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Calvary Assembly of God, 28870 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills. Pastor David Welle will officiate at the service. Burial will follow the service in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township with military honors. Mr. Burrows passed away Sept. 5, 2012. He was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Vineland, N.J., and was a longtime resident of the Euclid area. He retired 30 years ago from T.R.W. Don was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and was one of the last few survivors residing in Cleveland of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a longtime member of Calvary Assembly of God, where he served as a trustee several times, member of American Legion Post 343, and a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association's Lake Erie Chapter. He enjoyed woodworking, calligraphy, photography and especially time with his family. He is survived by his loving children, Donald F. Jr. (Martha), Deborah (Robert) Wyckoff, Jessica (Blaine) Boyd of Minnesota and Karen (Gary) Laycock; their mother, Nora Burrows; and his dearest companion of 38 years, Doris Gruber. Don was also the devoted grandfather of 13; and great-grandfather of four.
