Obituary for Marjorie J Drohn

MARGERY J. DROHN BOARDMAN – Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, for Margery J. Drohn, 85, who died Saturday evening at her residence. Margery was born July 10, 1927, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Frank E. and Dorothy J. Hogg Whitten Sr. and was a lifelong area resident. Margery graduated from South High School in 1945 and had been a switchboard operator at the Medical-Dental Bureau for many years where she was retired. She was a member of the John Knox Presbyterian Church for over 70 years, where she was a member of the Senior Choir, the bell choir, the Wenefil Circle and also had been the youth choir director. Marge was also a member of the South High School Alumni Association and the Youngstown area Republican Women’s Club. Her husband, Henry “Hank” Drohn, whom she married Sept. 1, 1979, died Feb. 17, 2002. She leaves three sons, Tim D. VanDyke of Youngstown, Scott D. VanDyke of Boardman, and Dennis R. VanDyke of Youngstown; one daughter, Dawn E. VanDyke of Norfolk, Va.; two grandchildren, John Docherty Roy VanDyke and Robert Scott VanDyke; two great-grandchildren, Connor VanDyke and Hannah VanDyke; and a sister-in-law, Ginny Whitten. Besides her parents and her husband, Margery was preceded in death a brother, Frank E. Whitten Jr. Friends may call on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.
