Obituary for Walter Kania

Walter J. Kania, 82, of Chester Township, passed away Aug. 8, 2012, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. Born March 17, 1930, in Phillips, Pa., he had lived in Chester Township for the past 51 years. Mr. Kania was a member of St. Anselm Church and active with the Young of Heart, West Geauga Boosters, and Chesterland Lyons Club. Walter was an avid fan of the Indians, Browns and Cavaliers. He was a senior computer whiz and loved by all. Mr. Kania was a co-owner of the former North Coast Remanufacturing Company. Survivors are his wife, Lorraine (Stiner); children, Debbie (Timothy) Osborne, and Renee, Patrick (Joan), and Matthew Walter Kania; grandchildren, Kim (Bob) Hrvatin, Jill Czernicki, Sandor Gaal, Heather Rogers, and Michael, Zachary, Alexander, Brandon, Nicole and Tyler Kania; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Rockwell; and brothers, William (Ellie) and Vincent Kania. He was preceded in death by one "great-grandangel," and one infant sister. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at the Church of Saint Anselm, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Interment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
