Obituary for Mildred M Leighty

MILDRED M. FOLEY LEIGHTY AUSTINTOWN – Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Mildred M. Foley Leighty, 83, who passed away Thursday afternoon at her home with her family by her side. “Millie” was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Alphonsus and Margaretta (McCurdy) Foley, whose family lineage traces back to the Mayflower. She retired as a cashier from Save A Step in Austintown, was a member of the Smith Corners United Methodist Church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing bingo. Her husband, Gene Leighty, whom she married on Feb. 26, 1949, passed away on Jan. 3, 2005. Millie will be sadly missed by her four daughters, Kathy Montgomery of Austintown, Peggy (Jack) Allan of Howland, Mary Jo (Sam) Judy of Austintown and Jeannie (Frank) Bindas of Mineral Ridge; two brothers, Art Foley of North Carolina and Zeno (Pat) Foley of Austintown; one sister, Pat Kendig of Canfield; 12 grandchildren, Shelly (Paul) Armour, Edwin Montgomery, Shari Montgomery, Stacie (Steven) Gerberry, Andria (Donnie) Guerra, Shannan Haluska, Brian (Kathy) Hoffman, Joseph Hoffman, Sarah Bindas, Adam (Kristen) Bindas, Katie Bindas and Olivia Bindas; and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Millie was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Kamrada, June Rae and Mary Ellen; five brothers, John Edward, Francis, Edgar, Richard, and Charles Foley; and a sibling at child birth. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home
