Obituary for Sr. William Castle

William H. Castle Sr., 91, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on June 23, 2012, in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of Violetta Behrle Castle. Mr. Castle was born in New Bedford, MA on Oct. 9, 1920, son of the late Mr.& Mrs. Wilfred Castle. A resident of Ansonia since 1948, he was employed as a machine operator at the former W.E. Bassett Co. in Derby for many years. A proud veteran, he honorably served during WW 2 in the U.S. Army Air Corp. William was a former longtime member of Fountain Hose Co. #1 in Ansonia and was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan. In addition to his wife Violetta, he is survived by a loving daughter, Cheryl Lynn Thayer and her husband Richard of Ansonia, three grandchildren knowing him affectionately as “Poppy”, Sarah Thayer and Adam Thayer of Ansonia and Stacy Thayer of Seymour, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, William H. Castle Jr. and Bryan E. Castle, a grandson, Richard Bryan Thayer, and a sister, Miriam Clays. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday June 27, 2012, at 10:00 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, with Deacon Richard Renker officiating. Interment with U.S. Army military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. To send an act of
