Obituary for Paul R. Fishel

Richard Fishel (1931-2012) Services for Paul Richard Fishel, 81, of Willoughby, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, Mr. Fishel passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Heartland of Mentor. Born May 8, 1931, in Cleveland, he was a lifelong Willoughby resident. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of Willoughby Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and teller, a graduate of the former Willoughby Union High School, Class of 1949, and was known as the bicycle repairman. Mr. Fishel was employed by the former Pennsylvania Railroad before joining the United States Postal Service. He served as a letter carrier at the Willoughby Post Office, retiring Oct. 31, 1990, after 32 years of service. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Naomi (Walters); children, Paul R. Fishel Jr. of Columbus, Suzanne (Eddie) Carrigg of Eastlake and Phyllis (Jeff) Jakubic of Jefferson; grandsons, Cliff Carrigg, U.S.N., Brian (Cami) Carrigg, Tim Jakubic and Alex Jakubic; great-grandson, Bentley Jakubic; sister, Jean Bowers of Willoughby; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Fishel of Mentor. His parents, Wilbur and Mary (Forman) Fishel; and brother, Phillip Fishel, are deceased. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at the funeral home. Pastor Drew Dukes of Willoughby Baptist Church will officiate at the service. Final resting place will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Willoughby Baptist Church, 37927 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, OH 44094.
