Obituary for Thomas A Bilkie

THOMAS A. BILKIE POLAND – Thomas A. Bilkie, 70, died May 31, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. Mr. Bilkie was born June 4, 1941, in Youngstown, a son of Anthony and Matilda Kacenga Bilkie. He was a 1959 Ursuline High School graduate and went on the receive at bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University in 1972. Thomas worked as a general foreman for Youngstown Sheet and Tube, and later retired from WCI Steel in 1998. He was a member of RC Short Circuit’s Club in Berlin Center. He would meet monthly with a group called the “Haseltine Bums” and the WCI Steel Retirees. Thomas served in the Army Reserves for six years. He enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, flying radio-controlled airplanes, having monthly lunches with old friends, playing cards with the James Place Men’s Club, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, the former Angela Damiano of Poland, whom he married June 25, 1966; three sons, Thomas Bilkie Jr. of Medina, Randy (Mary Kay) Bilkie of Poland and Kevin (Amy) Bilkie of Macedonia; and four grandchildren, Nicholas, Bronson , Brooklyn and Kayley Bilkie. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. A prayer service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Holy Family Parish. Entombment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. >>
