Obituary for Delores Ferguson
DELORES M. FERGUSON
AUSTINTOWN – Mrs. Delores M. Yeckel Ferguson, beloved wife and mother, departed this life Wednesday at 4:06 p.m. at Northside Hospital.
Mrs. Ferguson was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Youngstown, the daughter of George Yeckel and Rose Anna Barringer.
During World War II, she worked as a riveter at Trust Con and Republic Steel. Later she worked at the Isaly Dairy and F.A. Pilgrim Co.. She was a volunteer for several years at Goodwill Industry.
She loved to crochet and many people were blessed to receive her beautiful afghans and baby blankets, the most recent being the Akron Children’s Hospital. She was known as “Dee” by family and friends, and her generous nature and bright smile caused young and old to be drawn to her.
Besides her husband, William, to whom she married Sept. 2, 1950, she leaves a sister, Mrs. Mildred Kemble of Youngstown; three children, Jay Caves, Dianne Carman of Austintown, William Ferguson Jr. and wife Lee Ann of Ravenna; two step daughters, Mrs. Carol Mancini of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Susan Prenatt of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Kathy, Katie, Natalie and Brian; and a great–granddaughter, Elizabeth and husband Chalmer.
Besides her parents, Delores was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, George, Harry, Leroy and Robert; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ann Erskine, Madeline Yeckel, Mrs. Rose Ann Wiseman, Beverly Jean Yeckel and Mrs. Virginia Stoughton; a grandson, John James Patros; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Francine Thompson; and twin brothers–in–law, Allan and Albert Ferguson.
Her light will shine in the hearts of those who love her.
