Obituary for Catherine Hernandez
CATHRYN JANE HERNANDEZ
MINERAL RIDGE – Services will be held at 10 a.m Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel, for Cathryn Jane Hernandez, 85, who passed away Tuesday morning at Omni Manor Care Center.
Cathryn was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Indiana, Pa., the daughter of Irvin and Olive (Ruffner) Donahue.
She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a secretary with Dr. Gillett and Dr. Eddy prior to her marriage in 1965. She also worked as a nurse’s aide with Northside Hospital.
Cathryn was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, and a former member of the Mexican Club of Youngstown.
Cathryn enjoyed gardening, painting, and going out to dinner, but most of all, Cathryn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was always willing to give help to anyone who needed it. She was of the Protestant faith.
Cathryn leaves her husband of 46 years, Ricardo Hernandez, whom she married June 25, 1965. She also leaves two children, Donna (Robert) Fatula of Deerfield and David Jones of Warren, and one grandson, Don Ohl of Kent.
Besides her parents, Cathryn was preceded in death by a sister, Leora Baldwin; and two brothers, George Donahue and Harry Donahue.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
