Obituary for George Speare

GEORGE R. SPEARE SR AUSTINTOWN – George R. Speare Sr., 81, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Heritage Manor. Born June, 4, 1930, in Hamtramack, Mich., he was the son of George E. and Florence C. (Lewandoski) Speare, and lived in the area since 1971. George served his country for over 20 years in the U.S. Army, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, retiring in 1967. He proudly flew his flag at his home every day. George will be sadly missed by his five children, George Ralph Speare Jr. of Palm Coast, Fla., Curtis E. (Kim) Speare of Austintown, Joseph (Bonita) Speare of Warren, Judith Ann (Wayne) Whitney of Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Ruth M. (Steve) Wallis of Akron; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy and Phyllis; and brother Phillip all of Michigan. George was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ada M. (Ezzell), who died on April 13, 2012; grandson Wayne Whitney Jr.; parents; three brothers; and a sister. Friends will be received at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Doug Wampler officiating. Burial and military honors will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to either Disabled American Vets or to the Wounded Warriors Project
