Obituary for Harlean Preston

HARLEAN JUNE PRESTON YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church for Mrs. Harlean June Preston, 74, who departed this life April 3, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Preston was born March 24, 1938, in Powhatan Point, the daughter of Louis Charles Beason and Rubye Golsby Brown. She had been employed at General Electric for 37 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Greater Friendship Baptist Church, where she formerly served as head of the kitchen committee. She loved cooking, reading and shopping and was a worldwide traveler to foreign countries, living in Paris for two years. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Roy, whom she married Dec. 21, 1968; two daughters, Dr. Danette (Dr. Carroll) Conklin of Columbus and Michelle (William) Preston-Curry of Youngstown; three brothers, Louis Errol (Dorothy) Beason of Austintown, Charles Bernard Beason of St. Louis and Carson Delano (Colleen) Brown of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Robin Elaine (Brian) Brown-Woods of Oregon and Debe Rochelle Brown of Austin; six grandchildren, Delano and Jac’lene Conklin of Columbus, Erick and Ambrosia Preston and Mabel Curry, all of Youngstown, and Maurice Preston, with the U.S. Marine Corp; her beloved dog, Simba Preston; two close cousins, Agnes Westmoreland and Maxine Hill; and a host of other family and friends. Besides her father, Louis; mother Rubye; and stepfather, Robert Lee Brown, who raised her from age 12, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Augusta Johnson; and a sister, Gloria Augusta Brown.
