Obituary for Ewing B May

EWING B. MAY YOUNGSTOWN - Ewing B. May, 95, died March 17, 2012, at Briarfield Manor. Mr. May was born May 16, 1916, in Maceo, Ky. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy. Mr. May and his wife, Margaret, moved to Youngstown. Ewing worked at many jobs throughout his life, from baker to bartender to truck driver to metal worker and a few in between. He retired in 1978 from United Engineering. Even though his early childhood in Kentucky was very hard and cruel at times, he had an amazing positive attitude and enjoyed life to the fullest. Mr. May was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Margaret; three brothers, Jesse, Fred and James; and one sister, Mary Francis. Ewing loved horse racing, a cold beer on occasion, a good poker game and NASCAR on Sundays. Mr. May had out lived most of his friends but had several neighbors who were like family. For the last two years he was fond of “His Angels” at Briarfield Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard.
