Obituary for Dorothy N. Whiting

(1922-2012) |Dorothy N. (Dagnan) Whiting, 90, of Newbury Township, a homemaker, passed away March 15, 2012, at Briar Hill Healthcare Center in Middlefield. Born Jan. 6, 1922, in Linndale, she had lived in Euclid before moving to Newbury Township in 1945. Dorothy N. Dagnan married Wayne T. Whiting July 17, 1943. He preceded her in death Jan. 20, 2010. Mrs. Whiting was an active member of the Newbury United Community Church, TWIG, the Geauga Hospital Auxiliary, Human Services and the Sunshine Thrift Shop in Burton. She also was an avid cake decorator. Survivors are her daughters, Cathy (George) Vinci of Burton Township, Wendy (Francis) Cisz of Burton Township and Carol Young of Claridon Township; sons, Thomas Whiting of Parkman, Glenn Whiting of Claridon Township and Bruce Whiting of Newbury Township; sister, Ruth (Bill) Kurtzman of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne T. Whiting; son, Larry Whiting; parents, Ford and Ida (Gantzler) Dagnan; stepfather, Ollie Moon; brother, Frank Dagnan; sister-in-law, Cathy Dagnan; aunt, Pearl Blocker; and uncle, John Blocker. George Vinci, her son-in-law will be the celebrant. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
