Obituary for Sam Buzzacco

SAMUEL 'SAM' BUZZACCO – Samuel “Sam” Buzzacco, 88, was born on March 9, 1923, in Bagnoli Irpino, Avellino, Italy. He was one of four children born to Raffaele and Angeline Sarno Buzzacco and came to America in 1929 at the age of six. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 with the 3207 QM and was in the Invasion of Normandy. After the war, Sam married his childhood sweetheart, Rose DeGise in 1947. He retired from USS Steel in 1980 and enjoyed golfing, cooking, and gardening. Sam is survived by his wife; two children, Ralph (Druann) Buzzacco of Youngstown and Sandra (Keith) Buzzacco Smith of Rigby, Idaho; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dominic and Neil. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Youngstown with a funeral Mass to follow. Entombment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice House, 9308 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514
