Obituary for Dennick Sr. Cox

DENNICK W. COX SR AUSTINTOWN – Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Dennick W. Cox Sr., 86, who died early Tuesday morning. Dennick was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Youngstown, the son of Clark S. and Pearl (Rice) Cox. On Sept. 8, 1955, he married his wife, Betty (Ours), with whom he spent 56 years wonderful years until her passing in 2011. A graduate of South High School, he joined the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. Dennick worked as a truck driver for many years until his retirement from Transport America in 1992. He enjoyed bowling in the Wedgewood League and liked to golf. He is survived by two children, Doug (Sheryl) Cox of Canfield and Debbie (Bob Syphrit) Joki of New Wilmington, Pa. Mr. Cox also leaves his daughter-in-law, Melissa Lipinski. Dennick leaves 12 grandchildren, Justin, Corey, Robert, Joshua (Michelle), Mandy, Tammy (Ryan), Jeremy (Tiffany), Sherry (Jake), Matthew, Kevin, Eric and Anthony (Jessica); 11 great-grandchildren also survive, Bobby, Megan, Noah, Samantha, Breanna, Josh Jr., Alexander, Cameron, Mario, Elijah, and Braeden. He also leaves a brother, Russell G. Cox. Along with his parents, Dennick was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty; two sons, Dennick Cox Jr. and David Cox; and a sister, Veda Marie Harding. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Valley at 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with the service immediately after. >>
