Obituary for Lawrence Duncan

LAWRENCE J. ''PETE'' DUNCAN SR “Together Again” WARREN – Lawrence J. “Pete” Duncan Sr., 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Center. He was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Beaver Falls, Pa., the son of Onward and Stella (Boettner) Duncan, and had lived in Trumbull County since 1953. A Korean War-era veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Duncan worked as a train engineer for Republic Steel, retiring in 1986. A member of the Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, he belonged to USWA Local 1375 and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are three sons, Lawrence J. (Vicki) of McKinney, Texas, Dale R. of Austintown, and Christopher E. Duncan of Canton; a grandson, Jared (Sarah) Duncan of Tulsa, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his wife, Norma Jean (Wurzel) Duncan, whom he married July 4, 1953, and who died Nov. 17, 2009; three sisters; and five brothers. Services are at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at the McFarland & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
