Obituary for Robert Schlabaugh

CANFIELD – Services will be held Monday for Robert Schlabaugh, 83, who passed away Friday in the early morning hours. Born Aug. 28, 1928, in North Jackson, Robert was the son of Lewis and Erma (Hacker) Schlabaugh. Robert grew up in North Jackson and was a graduate of Jackson Milton High School. On Dec. 10, 1949, he married his first wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Ribble Schlabaugh, who passed away Dec. 15, 1985. On Feb. 27, 1987, Robert married Sally Kelso Patton, with whom he spent 24 wonderful years of marriage. He was a carpenter by trade and a long time member of Carpenters No. 171 with more than 55 years of service in the organization. He retired in 1990. He was also a Mason with more than 50 years of membership with Meander and Allen Lodges. He was a member of the Tabernacle E. P. Church and currently attended 3:16 Church. He was a member of several church groups including Kings Kids, the mission committee, and the fellowship class. He also served as a past elder. Robert is survived by his wife, Sally Schlabaugh and seven children, Susan (Michael) Dechaco of Peoria, Ariz., John (Ilene) Schlabaugh of Poland, Tom Schlabaugh of Tulsa, Okla., Larry (Julie) Schlabaugh of Cuyahoga Falls, Glenn Allan (Barbara) Patton of Norfolk, Va., Mary Lynn Durick of Struthers and Susan (Rick Tkach) Patton of North Lima. He is also survived by two sisters, Janet Close of Sebring and Sandra (Pat) Keney of North Jackson. Robert also leaves 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
