Obituary for Lilly W Barra

Funeral service will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lilly Barra, 90, who passed away on January 18, 2009 at 2:50 pm at Cornerstone Village South. Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen, Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Barra was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. She retired from Sun Oil Company after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Holy Cross Ladies Altar Society. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt who will be missed by all. She is survived by two daughters, Suzette B. Barker of Lafayette and Phyllip B. Mayer of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Shawn B. Arceneaux, Henry D. Barker, Jr., Michelle B. John and her husband, Bill, Henry L. Mayer, III and his wife, Amy and Robin M. Stockstill and her husband, Kevin; three great granchildren, Sophia Anne Stockstill, Isabelle G. Stockstill and Henry L. Mayer, IV; and her nephew, Harmon F. Roy of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents; her guardians, Rudolph and Anna Roy; her husband, Cecil R. Barra; and one brother, William Walters. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of services at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Henry D. Barker, Jr., Henry L. Mayer, III, Kevin Stockstill, Patrick M. Martin, Dwight Purdy and Charles A. Fuselier.
