Obituary for David Rolf Norling

 

Friday, October 14, 2022. David Rolf Norling, 89, longtime resident of Guilford and formerly of Madison, passed away suddenly at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Mr. Norling was born in Cleveland, OH on September 16, 1933, son of the late Earl Helge Norling and Elivra (De Welies) Norling. He was the loving husband of Arlene (Anthony) Norling for 59 years, and loving father of Deborah Dixson and her husband Scott of Wayland, Massachusetts, Timothy Norling of Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida, David Norling and his wife Gail of Chester, and Kate Geneva Norling, of Guilford. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Trevor, Cameron and Benjamin Dixson, and Charlotte Norling. Brother of Nancy Coe, deceased.

Mr. Norling is a graduate of Norwich University. He proudly served as a Captain in the US Army, flying helicopters on patrol over the Berlin Wall. Before retirement he worked as a sales executive for General Electric Company for more than thirty years. He enjoyed playing tennis, was a lifelong fan of the New York Giants and Yankees, and enjoyed staying in touch with his Fairfield High School, Norwich University and Army friends. He was a happy man who enjoyed life and making friends. He will be dearly missed.
