Obituary for Robert R. Stokes

Robert R. Stokes, 75, of Ansonia, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on Wednesday November 23, 2011, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances P. Danielczuk Stokes. Mr. Stokes was born in Derby on January 17, 1936, son of the late Eric and Isabelle Bell Stokes. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a pattern maker at the Farrel Corporation in Ansonia for 28 years and later worked at Peerless Aluminum Foundry in Bridgeport for 15 years. Bob was an avid sports fan and enjoyed woodworking, flower gardening, bowling, and especially spending time with his loving family. He is survived by three sons, Robert J. Stokes of Ansonia, Eric R. Stokes (Beth) of West Haven, and Daniel F. Stokes (Laura) of Texas, a daughter, Marsha L. Piagneri (John) of Ansonia, three cherished grandchildren, Lauren Piontek of West Haven and Katelyn and Daniel Stokes of Texas, a brother in law, Bernard Fitzsimons of Hamden and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Jean Barto and Shirley Fitzsimons. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday November 29, 2011, at 10:00 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Interment with U.S. Navy honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Visiting hours will be held on MONDAY from 4-7 pm.
