Obituary for Albert C Moore

BOARDMAN – Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman for Albert C. Moore, 85. He passed away Saturday evening at Hospice House.

Mr. Moore was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Staunton, Va., a son of John Harmon and Minnie L. Clayton Moore Sr., moving to Youngstown at the age of 3.

He graduated from Chaney High School in 1944. At the age of 16, he became a clerk in the U.S. Post Office. He left that position to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning home, he attended Youngstown State University, studying engineering. He started his career at Youngstown Sheet & Tube in 1947, retiring in 1979 after 33 years as an assistant manager of the claims department.

Albert was a member of the church and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and football.

His first wife, the former Helen I. Wallace, whom he married Sept. 12, 1947, died Oct. 14, 2003.

Surviving him is his wife, the former Emma L. Schmidt Blackstone-Moore, whom he married June 13, 2007; two sons, Albert C. (Mary Lou) Moore Jr. of Austintown, and Mark W. (Barbara) Moore of Hubbard; a daughter, Lorrie E. (Steven) Bowden of Ft. Worth, Texas; a sister, Lillian M. (Peter) Proch of Youngstown; and six grandchildren, Jessica Moore, Scott Moore, Lucian (Caitlin) Bowden, Adam (Carrie) Bowden, Kellie (Eric) Kiel and Brandon Moore; and six great-grandchildren, Emma and Madison Bowden, Zion and Levi Kiel, Dylan and Jayson Bowden.

Preceding him in death besides his first wife and parents is a brother, John H. Moore Jr.; and a grandson, Marc W. Moore.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Davis Becker Funeral Home in Boardman and on Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
