Obituary for Harold L Ritz

HAROLD L. RITZ BOARDMAN – Funeral services will be held for Harold L. Ritz, 84, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman celebrated by Deacon Paul Lisko. Harold passed away Friday morning at Assumption Village in North Lima. Mr. Ritz was born June 6, 1927, in Newark, N.J., the only child of John and Grace Hann Ritz and has been an area resident since childhood. He was a Boardman High School graduate with the class of 1944. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he was a radio mechanic. Harold was an avid Ham radio operator, whose call sign was KD8AC. He worked as an industrial engineer for Copperweld Steel retiring in 1991. His wife, the former Eleanor J. Shuster, whom he married Jan. 15, 1947, died on Aug. 28, 2010. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Patricia (Charles) Mound of Boardman; four sons, Alan (Joan) Ritz of Athens, Texas, David Ritz of Sarasota, Fla., Brian (Susan) Ritz of Akron and Dale (Michaelene) Ritz of Boardman; and five grandchildren, Megan Ritz, Nathaniel Ritz, Joshua Mound, Stephanie Ritz and Anne Ritz. Harold’s family wishes to thank the administration and staff at Assumption Village for their loving and compassionate care. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home prior to the service.
