Obituary for Jana Loewit

GENEVIEVE JANA LOEWIT McDONALD – Genevieve Jana Loewit, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, when she left to meet Lord Jesus. She was tenderly cared for at home during her illness by many friends, neighbors, medical staff, and especially her son, Ronald. She was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Salem, the daughter of the late Pauline Ott Everstine. She was a secretary for Girard Machine for 26 years, retiring in 1991. Genevieve was a member of the Open Door Community Church in McDonald. She taught piano for 15 years, and directed choir for many years. She had a passion for music, sign language, light houses, antique buttons, chocolate meringue cookies, and the color green. She is survived by her sons, Dale E. (Barbara) Loewit of Boardman, Kenneth G. Loewit of Sanibel, Fla. and Ronald I. Loewit of McDonald, with whom she made her home; also a sister, Geraldine Bancik of Lisbon; two grandchildren, Brandon Loewit and Brea (Jim Simpson) Loewit; and three great-grandchildren, twins Evan and Elijah and Ellie Simpson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Wallace; her brother, Charles W. Everstine, who was a USN Commander; a great-grandson, Ezra Simpson; sister-in-law, Cecelia Everstine; brothers-in-law, Paul Bancik and Earl Wallace; and a nephew, Steven Bancik. A funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. at the Blackstone Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of service.
