Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m, Friday, July 1, 2011 at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel for Seeley L. Major, 89 of Canfield who died Wednesday morning at the Veterans Home in Sandusky, Ohio. Seeley was born May 2, 1922 in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Oren and Ethel Metz Major. He graduated from Liberty High School and served as a Master Seargeant in the Soloman Islands during World War II. He then served in the Reserves from 1947-1952.
His wife, the former Mary Louise Fannin, whom he married January 16, 1944, died December 2001. He leaves his daughter, Linda Blott of Canfield and his son, Eric; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife, Seeley was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Allen, Delma Blair; two brothers, Warren Major and Bud Major. Friends may call on Friday at the funeral home for one half hour prior to the service
