Obituary for Angelo Dipaolo

Angelo C. DiPaolo GIRARD – Angelo C. DiPaolo, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Civitella Alfedena, Italy, the son of the late Luigi and Angelina (Antonucci) DiPaolo. He served in the Italian Army during World War II and was held as a POW in Africa for many years. He retired from Brainard Rivet in 1980 after working 20 years. He was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard. Angelo was an avid bocce player and was a member of various bocce leagues in Girard. He was a member of the Civitella Club of Warren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to Italy. He is survived by his wife, Erminia (Santucci) DiPaolo, whom he married Oct. 9, 1946; a son, Louis J. (Teresa) DiPaolo of Boardman; a daughter, Angela Small of Girard; two brothers, Vilmo (Henrietta) DiPaolo of Totowa, N.J., and Anthony (Sonja) DiPaolo of St. Louis; and five grandchildren, Atty. Jason Small, Andrea Small, Andrew, Stephen and Michael DiPaolo. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Luisa DiPaolo Sr. Chiarina Antonucci of the Oblate Sisters; and a son-in-law, Atty. Harlan Small. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at St. Rose Church. Calling hours will be held prior to Mass from 11 a.m. at the McClurkin Funeral Home in Girard, concluding with a prayer service at noon. Entombment will be at Green Haven Memorial Garden in Canfield.
